Privacy Policy
Effective 15 October 2026
Glasscast has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your sign-ins, playlists, favourites and viewing history stay on your Mac. When Glasscast looks up a film or series, it sends the title, not who you are.
Who we are
Glasscast is published by Consenteo Ventures Sp. z o.o., a company registered in Poland, which is the data controller for the processing described here. Write to us at development@consenteo.com about anything in this policy.
This policy covers the Glasscast app for macOS, the Glasscast Library service the app uses for film and series information, and this website.
What stays on your Mac
- Sign-ins. Provider user names, passwords and any TMDB key you add are stored in your Mac's Keychain. They never reach us.
- Your library. Playlists, channels, the programme guide, favourites, progress, recently watched titles and downloads are kept in the app's own storage on your Mac.
- Logs and crash reports. Glasscast keeps a short log and any crash reports macOS gives it on your Mac. They leave it only if you choose Copy Report and send the result to someone yourself. A report contains the app and macOS versions, your Mac's model, an outline of your profiles, the recent log and the newest crash report. It never contains passwords or playlist addresses.
Deleting the app and its data from your Mac removes all of this. We hold no copy.
What leaves your Mac, and where it goes
Glasscast connects to other services only to do what you ask of it. Each sees your IP address, as any internet connection does.
Your TV provider
Glasscast connects directly to the provider or playlist you add, using the details you give it, to load channels, the guide, films, series, pictures and streams. We are not involved in this connection and don't see it. Your provider's own privacy policy applies to it.
Glasscast Library, our metadata service
When it is switched on, as it is to begin with (Settings → Details), Glasscast asks Glasscast Library for information about the films and series in your library. Each request contains:
- whether the title is a film or a series, its title and year, and your preferred language, or
- a TVmaze show number, to fetch a series' episode list.
Requests carry no account, device identifier or anything else that says who you are. The service holds your IP address in memory only, to limit how many requests each address can make, and forgets it within twenty minutes of your last request. It keeps no log of requests. The answers it finds (descriptions, cast, pictures) are cached for up to 30 days so the next viewer gets them faster; the cache records titles, never who asked for them.
Glasscast Library runs on a server rented from Hostinger in Germany, which processes data on our behalf. It gathers its answers from Wikidata, Wikipedia and TVmaze. Those services see our server's requests, not yours.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing the information pages you open in the app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can switch Glasscast Library off at any time in Settings → Details.
Pictures
Posters, backdrops and cast photos found by Glasscast Library or TMDB load directly from the service that hosts them, such as TVmaze, Wikimedia or TMDB, which sees your IP address.
TMDB, only with your own key
If you add your own TMDB API key, Glasscast sends the titles in your library to The Movie Database (TMDB) directly from your Mac to find their details. TMDB's privacy policy applies. Without a key, Glasscast never contacts TMDB.
Trailers
When you choose to watch a trailer, it plays from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Google's privacy policy applies to that playback. Nothing loads from YouTube until you ask for a trailer.
Demo content
If you choose Start with Demo Data, Glasscast loads a playlist from this website and plays its streams from the services that host them: the Internet Archive and Mux. Each sees your IP address while you watch.
Speed check
The stream status panel can run a short speed check, if you start it, by downloading test data from Cloudflare's speed test service (speed.cloudflare.com).
Apple
Glasscast is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the free trial, the purchase and restoring it; we receive no payment details and no information that identifies you. If you have agreed in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash and performance reports for Glasscast. Apple's privacy policy applies.
This website
This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no fonts or scripts from other companies. Our web server keeps no log of visits. It is hosted on the same server as Glasscast Library.
Emails to us
If you write to us, we use your message and address to answer you, and keep the conversation for as long as needed to help you, and no longer than two years after it ends. Legal basis: taking the steps you asked for, and our legitimate interest in answering support requests.
Children
Glasscast is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from them. Glasscast hides adult categories unless you switch them on.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, ask us to restrict or stop processing it, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and receive your data in a portable form. Because Glasscast keeps your data on your Mac and Glasscast Library doesn't record who asks for what, we will usually hold nothing about you beyond any emails you've sent us.
To use any of these rights, write to development@consenteo.com. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority; in Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, uodo.gov.pl), or the authority where you live.
Transfers outside the EU
We keep our own processing in the EU. Services you choose to use through the app, such as your provider, TMDB or YouTube, may process data elsewhere under their own policies.
Changes
If we change how Glasscast handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change reaches the app.
